The School for Living Futures is an interdisciplinary, experimental project in Durham, NC dedicated to creating new knowledge and possibility for our climate-changed future.
Our past programming includes Living Futures Saturdays, a monthly event series that pairs climate-engaged presenters from different disciplines along with community conversation, The Future of Water, a speculative art show focused on local watershed issues, The Climate Social, a public networking event co-hosted with Sarah P. Duke Gardens, Courses and Workshops in creative writing and gardening, public readings of The Children, a play by Lucy Kirkwood, in collaboration with Theater Bookclub, and a Book Group reading of Hospicing Modernity. “conspiracy: from the Latin conspirare, literally “to breathe together” ”
This season, inspired by the conversations, experiences, and learning we’ve been doing, we’re feeling called toward more intimate personal and community connection, more service, more practice, and less public-facing events. As such, we invite you to dream and scheme with us through the following offerings:
A monthly gathering of neighbors and friends who want to conspire around friendship, care, and action.
By invitation. If you’re interested in joining in, contact us.
Biweekly virtual coworking session for dreams and schemes for the futures.
Open to the public; time TBA soon. Join our email list for updates.
